The Wingsland S6 is a small, foldable GPS drone with a handful of smart modes, and a 4K camera with electronic image stabilization (EIS). Once costing over $300, this little quad can now be picked up for less than $200 and sometimes even less than $150. How does it compare to similar quads like the Dobby, Breeze or Spark? Let’s take a look.

Before we get too deep into the review I have to say I’ve only flown this drone one time. It was a lot of fun but ultimately it wouldn’t take off again. Everything seems to work, I get video, satellites and it will even calibrate. It just won’t take off. I’ve done numerous reboots but still nothing. I’ve contacted Wingsland and their customer service is willing to ship me a new unit. So that is a bonus, but the S6 has been known to be flakey and that certainly was the case with my unit. Know that before you buy. Sure you could get a good drone for $150 and that’s a good deal. Or you could get a brick.
Take a look at the Wingsland S6 |
The Wingsland S6 is capable of shooting 4K video at 30 fps. If you prefer higher framerates you can choose 1080p at 60 fps. Image stabilization is done electronically and will help smooth the video footage for you. The camera is capable of 13 MP still photos. I found the video quality to be pretty solid. The image stabilization did a good job but don’t expect it to perform like a mechanical gimbal.
The Wingsland S6 features both GPS and optical flow stabilization so it can be flown indoors or out. There are a handful of useful GPS modes like follow me, return to home, course lock and home lock. The S6 is very stable but it will drift a little bit.
Wingsland introduced a handful of interesting “modules” that you can strap on top of the S6. There is a pellet gun, flashlight, and an expression light. These seem gimmicky at best and will most certainly result in lower flight times. But if you always wanted to shoot plastic balls from a drone then Wingsland has answered your call.
The Wingsland S6 is controlled exclusively from your smartphone. That will limit its range to 100 meters in optimal conditions. The Wingsland S6 has a flight time of about 10 minutes. My experience was a little
