The new Syma Z2 is an interesting drone. It is a small cylindrical drone with folding arms. It comes with a unique “case” that makes it easy to travel with. It even has a decent camera. You won’t need a remote as this little quad will fly with your smartphone. Keep reading to learn more.
The Syma Z2
This little Syma is a lot like the Syma Z1 selfie drone. It has folding arms and a decent camera. It is good for taking selfies. The altitude hold does a good job of keeping this drone level. It is fairly stable indoors but wouldn’t fair well outdoors in any kind of wind.
The camera is a 720p camera and will take good pictures if the lighting is right. There isn’t any image stabilization so you’ll have to fly this quad slow and level to get the right shot.
Flying the Syma Z2
This drone is controlled via WiFi using an app on your smartphone. It is nice because you won’t have to worry about bringing your remote. Smartphone controls typically aren’t quite as precise and this app tends to have a little bit of lag. That means it will take a split second for the drone to respond to your control commands. This typically is a recipe for disaster, especially for a beginner.
Our Recommendation
Instead of picking up a Syma Z2 we would recommend looking into the Ryze Tello. The Ryze Tello is superior on almost every level. It has a better camera, intuitive flight modes and is the most stable non-GPS drone you can buy. The Tello is hands down the best drone you can buy for less than $100.
