We wanted to put all the specs in one place for you to compare the Mavic Air 2 to all the other Mavics from DJI. We grouped the table by “Drone Specs,” “Camera Specs,” and “Flight Modes and Additional Features.” We at Half Chrome hope you find this table helpful, we certainly do. We also put a text-based version of the table at the bottom of this post. If you want to take a deep dive into the Mavic Air 2 by itself click here. If you’d prefer a one-on-one breakdown take a look at the Mavic Air 2 vs Mavic Mini article or our Mavic Air 2 vs Mavic 2 series article.
Mavic Air 2 Drone Specs
Here are the basic specs of the Mavic Air 2. As you can see, it has the longest range and flight time of all of the Mavics. It is also the only Mavic that will charge your smartphone. The Mavic Air 2 doesn’t have quite the power or speed of the larger Mavic 2 Pro or Mavic 2 Zoom models. The larger Pro and Zoom also sport 6 directions of obstacle avoidance, giving more safety, particularly for autonomous flight modes.
Mavic Air 2 Camera Specs
The Mavic Air 2 is the first DJI camera to support 48 MP photos, 4K recording at 60 frames per second, and 8K hyperlapse. It also supports HDR for video, photos, and panos – no other DJI drone does that. We still think the best cameras are on the Mavic Pro (20 MP) and Mavic Zoom (2X optical zoom).
The camera is, of course, one of the most important features of any drone. Each DJI Mavic has its own unique camera with its unique properties and specs. To choose the right drone for you, you need to know which camera will best suit your needs. Are you shooting high-end professional photos? Do you need to be able to capture footage in low light situations? Is the ability to zoom in on a subject important? Will you be cropping photos in post-production? Are you a weekend warrior that just wants to capture quality footage? Take a look below to help you decide which drone will work best for you.
Flight Modes and Additional Features
The Mavic Air 2 is the first DJI drone to sport APAS 3.0, Active Track 3.0, and Point of Intrest 3.0. Unfortunately, it currently does not have TapFly like its predecessor, the Mavic Air. It also doesn’t have Waypoints as a stand-alone flight mode, like the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom.
The DJI lineup of drones has some impressive flight modes and features. Some of the have full obstacle avoidance, some have partial. The Mavic Mini does not have obstacle avoidance. Automated flight modes help you capture unique video footage that would be difficult to do on your own. We have a comprehensive breakdown of the different flight modes on the different Mavic drones, from the Mavic Air 2 to the Mavic Mini we have it all here.
How do you choose the right Mavic for you?
It is hard to go wrong with any DJI Mavic but to make the best choice you have to know your purpose for the drone. Understanding how you will use it will help you make the right choice. We will have more detailed breakdowns on the Mavic Air 2 specs and how it compares 1-on-1 to some other drones. If you want to know how the Mavic Air 2 vs Mavic Mini breaks down or how the Mavic Air 2 vs the Mavic 2 lineup shakes out we have done those comparisons. We will even compare it to non-DJI drones like the Autel Evo and Parrot Anafi.
