Today, I want to dive into the world of DJI mini drones and help you figure out which one might be the perfect fit for your aerial adventures. In this review, we’ll be comparing four models: the Mavic Mini (original), Mini 2, Mini 3 Pro, and Mini 4 Pro. So, buckle up and let’s explore these pint-sized flyers! Use the chart below as reference or to quick check the different specs on the different mini drones.
First off, let’s talk about why mini drones are a big deal. These compact wonders, weighing under 250 grams, offer a slew of advantages. Not only do they sidestep the need for FAA registration and remote ID, but they’re also super portable, budget-friendly, and less likely to attract a crowd. Perfect for capturing those breathtaking shots without the hassle!
What is the best DJI mini drone?
Now, let’s delve into the specifics of each DJI mini drone. The video below is a great resource and will walk you through the difference AND show you some example video.
Mavic Mini (Original)
– Released back in October 2019, this $400 drone boasted a 2.7K camera, 30 minutes of flight time, and basic intelligent flight modes.
– While lacking in features like active track, it remained a solid choice for beginners and enthusiasts alike. While you can no longer buy the DJI Mavic Mini the Mini 2 SE is its current replacement. It is upgraded in a few places and is $100 cheaper than the original.
Mini 2
– With a price tag of around $450, the Mini 2 stepped up the game with a full 4K camera, improved range (10,000m), and a redesigned remote controller.
– It was a noticeable upgrade from its predecessor, offering better video quality and a more refined flying experience.
The DJI Mini 2 is an excellent drone and DJI’s first with a 4K camera. However at $449 we would highly recommend the DJI Mini 3. It is the same price but is a definite upgrade.
Mini 3 Pro
– This drone introduced obstacle avoidance, a larger sensor for better low-light performance, and extended battery options for longer flight times (up to 47 minutes). Not to mention the vertical shooting mode and other fun features.
– Priced at $750 initially, it’s now available at $599, making it an attractive choice for those seeking advanced features without breaking the bank.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is an excellent option and DJI’s least expensive drone that offers obstacle avoidance.
Mini 4 Pro
– The latest addition to the lineup, the Mini 4 Pro shines with enhanced obstacle avoidance, a staggering 20,000m range, and 4K slow-motion capabilities at 100 frames per second.
– Priced at $750, it’s hailed as the top-tier mini drone in DJI’s arsenal, perfect for professionals and enthusiasts looking for top-notch performance.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro is an impressive drone. It is absolutely the best drone that money can buy that is less than 250 grams. Don’t let the little package fool you, this is a legit photography tool.
Which is the best DJI Mini drone for you?
In terms of performance, both the Mavic Mini and Mini 4 Pro deliver impressive results. However, if you’re looking for cutting-edge features like obstacle avoidance and superior camera capabilities, the Mini 4 Pro steals the spotlight.
So, which one should you choose? It ultimately boils down to your budget and specific needs. If you’re on a tight budget and don’t require advanced features, the Mavic Mini or Mini 2 will serve you well. On the other hand, if you crave the best of the best, the Mini 4 Pro is a worthy investment, especially for professional use.
In conclusion, DJI’s mini drones offer a fantastic range of options, catering to beginners and pros alike. Whichever model you go for, you’re in for an exhilarating aerial experience!
