The Flyhal FX1 is the exact same drone as the MJX Bugs 16 Pro. There are really only two differences. Appearance and price. This drone is black, not grey like the Bugs 16. Also and more importantly you can buy the Flyhal FX1 with two batteries and a carrying case for only $199. This is by far the best deal I’ve seen on a drone that is less than $200.
Flyhal FX1 4K Drone
The Flyhal FX1 is an impressive-looking folding drone. It features a 4K camera on a three-axis gimbal, GPS stability, and intelligent flight modes. It utilizes 2204 brushless motors that give it a flight time of up to 28 minutes. In addition to GPS, it also uses a barometer and optical flow sensors to help keep it stable. MJX has been making good quality, inexpensive drones for years, and the Flyhal FX1 is no exception there. Don’t be scared off by the rebranded name of the FX1. It is the Bugs 16 Pro.
The range of the Flyhal FX1 is about 600 meters. You can expect about half that distance with the video transmission range. The 720p image is transmitted to your smartphone via the M RC PRO app and you’ll need a “5G” or AC protocol capable phone to view it. Most smartphones made in the last two years will likely work.
Flyhal FX1 Camera
MJX has always produced a decent camera and the one on the 16 Pro looks like their best offering yet. You’ll get a 1/3″ sensor a f/2.o aperture and a field of view of 120-degrees. You can capture 4K video at 30 fps or 1080p video at 60fps. This really is the best camera you’ll find on a drone that costs less than $250. It isn’t quite professional quality but you can take pictures and videos that you’ll be proud of with this drone.
You will get full control of the 3-axis gimbal and MJX also has included EIS to help stabilize the footage. The recording is done onboard the drone via a micro SD card and it will take a class 10 up to 128 GB.
Flyhal FX1 Features
The Flyhal FX1 batteries feature quick charge technology, allowing it to charge fully in about an hour using a USB-C connection. It will have a follow me mode, point of interest, tapfly, and return to home modes. I found the modes easy to use and they worked well.
Should you get the Flyhal FX1? It is an excellent option for anyone looking to get into flying that doesn’t want to break the bank. For $199 this is a great option.
