Eachine E012: The Newest and Smallest Micro Ducted Quad

We put the Eachine E012 up against some other tiny drones. They may be small, but they are a lot of fun. Check it out.

Eachine seems to be releasing a new microdrone on a daily basis. Their newest addition is the Eachine E012. It is a tiny ducted quadcopter. It is very similar to the uber-popular E010, only smaller.

What is the E012?

The E010 gained popularity as an Inductrix clone that was inexpensive and easily adaptable to carry a small FPV camera. Eachine upped their game and recently released a better version of the E010 dubbed the E011. The E011 boast bigger and better motors and is better suited for FPV flight.

The E012 goes in the opposite direction and gets smaller with smaller motors. The E012 has four 6.5 mm motors. It isn’t as well suited for FPV as the E011 or E010, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a fun little quad.

For about fifteen bucks you can pick up one of these little guys. The ducted design helps keep the propellers away from fingers and helps the drone bounce off walls as you fly. Its small size makes it ultra-portable so you can take it wherever you go.

Features of the E012

The E012 has a few nice features. You can flip it with the push of a button. This is always an impressive trick to show off to friends. It also has headless mode which helps new pilots with orientation.

The E012 also has some very bright LEDs to help with location and orientation. It also claims to have one key return. This feature should be used sparingly if at all. Without GPS you never know which “home” it will return to.

Should You Get an E012?

You can expect about 5 minutes of flight time from the E012 and a range of 30 meters. All in all, this is a fun tiny quad that is great for beginners. If you are looking for something fun that you can fly inside that is less than $20 then we’d recommend trying the E012. However, our favorite ducted micro quad is the E011. It is bigger, faster and almost indestructible. Plus you can easily add an FPV camera and take it to the next level. Happy Flying.
