Holy Stone HS200: A Top-Selling Amazon Drone

The Holy Stone HS200 is the upgraded version of the X400C. It is a solid beginner drone with a handful of nice features. If you are looking for something stable that has a 720p camera then take a closer look at the HS200. You’ll find out why it is a top-selling drone on Amazon.

Holy Stone HS200 Features

The Holy Stone HS200 is a solid quadcopter. It features headless mode and altitude hold. Altitude hold helps keep the quadcopter stable and level. The onboard camera records 720p HD video and captures 2 MP pictures. It also transmits live video to your smartphone via an app. You’ll have to fly slow to get stable video. There isn’t a gimbal or stabilization software, so if the drone moves the camera moves with it. Don’t expect high-quality HD video without a gimbal or software. If that is your goal you’ll want to check out a DJI drone. The DJI Mavic is our favorite. Learn more about the Mavic here.

The HS200 also has four different speeds so you can learn to fly slow then pick it up as your skills improve. It also has one-button take off and landing to make things even easier.

The HS200 can be controlled by either the included remote or your smartphone via a WiFi app. You can save pictures and video right to your phone so you can share them quickly and easily on social media.

HS200 Flight Time and Range

You’ll get about 8 minutes of flight time from your Holy Stone HS200. The range is a typical 100 meters, but you won’t be able to get FPV transmission that far. You’ll be lucky if you get 50 meters before the video feed cuts out.

Should You Get a Holy Stone HS200

If you are looking for a stable beginner drone then you should look into the HS200. The HD camera and altitude drone make this a good quad for a young pilot. It is a top-selling drone on Amazon for a reason. It starts around $99.

Other Options

If you are looking for something similar with a better camera, better flight time and range then we’d recommend the Force1 F100 Ghost. You’ll get a drone with more powerful and efficient brushless motors and a removable action camera. The F100 boasts a 500 meter range and a flight time of almost 20 minutes. The F100 is also faster and quite versatile. Check it out.
