Flying FPV is a totally unique experience. It is a very different experience than flying a DJI Mavic or Phantom. FPV puts you into the cockpit of the drone. You get a real “birds-eye” view from the sky. However, getting into FPV can be a bit tricky. Choosing the right components is a challenge. Learning how to set everything up takes time. It is an expensive and time-consuming adventure. At least it was. Emax has streamlined the experience with their new EZ Pilot Pro. With the EZ Pilot Pro, you get a real FPV drone, remote controller, and a set of FPV goggles. The best part is that it is set up and ready to fly out of the box for only $240. EZ Pilot Pro
The EZ Pilot Pro drone is essentially a beefed up Tinyhawk. I’m a huge fan of the different Tinyhawk drones and this one was specially designed with a beginner in mind. I love the thick, robust frame. It can certainly handle crashes, both indoors and out. It has powerful 08025, 15,000 kv motors. The EZ Pilot is a typical robust tiny whoop drone and is well suited for a beginner pilot, but has enough power that you can still enjoy flying it as you improve your skills.
Emax E8 Transmitter
The radio transmitter that comes with the EZ Pilot Pro is a HUGE upgrade over most bind and fly FPV kit controllers. It comes with a battery and can be charged via USB. The E8 transmitter uses the FrSky D8 protocol and can even be used with other drones. If you are new to FPV another suggestion is to download an FPV simulator on your computer, grab a micro USB cable, plug in your E8 transmitter and get some practice in. I recommend FPV Liftoff.
Emax Transporter 2 FPV Goggles
These Emax goggles are nice. They are adjustable and easy to use. The best part about them is that they can be used as a goggle headset, or you can remove the screen and attach it to your remote and use it as a standalone FPV monitor. They have diversity antennas (two antennas for a better signal). These goggles are a great starter set. This goggle set unfortunately doesn’t have a DVR so you can’t record your flights.
What is the best drone for an FPV beginner?
I personally love tiny whoop drones for beginners. They are small, lightweight, portable, and durable. You can fly them indoors and out. They aren’t noisy and are less dangerous than bigger and more powerful FPV drones. These are all reasons to start with whoops. Getting started and setting things up is also a huge challenge. That is another great reason to start with the EZ Pilot Pro. Emax has done the heavy lifting already. You can open the box, charge, and start flying. There are a lot of little things that Emax does that helps make it a better flying experience.
The Emax Tinyhawk 3 is another great option for an all-in-one FPV kit. It differs from the EZ Pilot Pro in a couple of different ways. The Tinyhawk 3 is a little lighter and faster of a drone. The FPV goggles have a DVR for recording flights and the kit comes with a nice carrying case. If you are interested in the Tinyhawk 3 it is a bit more expensive too at $299.
