The Visuo drone company has created some interesting and inexpensive drones. We really like the XS809S Battle Shark, it is a lot of fun and inexpensive. Now they have released a GPS version for about $100. It is hard to find a GPS drone at this price point. Is it worth it? Let’s take a look.
Visuo Drone Stability
The Visuo XS812 is an impressively stable drone. When it is locked on to double-digit satellites you will get a drone that stays where you want it to stay. We haven’t seen a GPS drone for under $100 this stable before. Flying this drone is a lot of fun. It is both stable and responsive.
Visuo XS812 Specs
Take a look at the specs on the Visuo XS812. This folding drone may have been built to look like a DJI Mavic but the specs will tell you otherwise.
Visuo Drone Camera
There are two camera options for this Visuo drone. You can opt for either the 2MP or 5MP camera normally I’d recommend you pick up the better camera. The 5MP camera just isn’t quite right, in fact it seems to be the same as the 2MP camera. Save your money, go with the 2MP camera. Initially, we thought the video was only stored on your phone, but the entire camera module can be removed and will hold a micro SD card.
The camera angle can be adjusted, so that is definitely a bonus. It will stream live video to your smartphone so you can see what is happening in real time.
The remote on the Visuo XS812 is nice. It is solid and has a good feel to it. It is also labeled so you won’t have to guess what each of the buttons do.
Should You Get a Visuo Drone?
Flying the Visuo XS812 is a lot of fun for sure, no the camera isn’t perfect, but it isn’t half bad. If you have your heart set on a Visuo drone and you don’t want to spend close to $100 then we’d recommend one of the less expensive ones. They are excellent beginner drones but are not suited for taking aerial videos. If you want something fun to fly then definitely consider the Visuo XS 812. Two alternatives to consider would be the Yuneec Breeze or Ryze Tello. The Breeze is a GPS drone with intelligent flight modes and a 4K camera that will typically cost less than $200, sometimes even $150. The Tello is a smaller drone under $100. While the Tello may lack GPS, it is still impressively stable and does have some intelligent flight modes.

What Is the BEST Drone?
So what is the absolute best drone out there? That question isn’t as easy to answer as you’d think. BUT…for most people the answer is the DJI Mavic Air. It is portable, has an awesome camera and excellent flight modes. Learn more about the Mavic Air HERE.
What Is Our FAVORITE Drone?
The Mavic Air is great but the drone that has us excited to go fly the most right now is the Parrot Anafi. The camera and gimbal setup on this drone allow it to do things that no other drone can. Plus, having the ability to zoom in on what you are filming is priceless. Learn more about the Parrot Anafi HERE.
What Drone Is the Best VALUE?
The best value on the market today has to be the DJI Spark. Now under $400, this little dynamo can do things that once upon a time cost over $1000. Learn more about the DJI Spark HERE.
