Hubsan H123D X4 Jet

Hubsan has jumped on the micro brushless FPV train and has put out an interesting quad with their new H123D X4 Jet. It looks a lot like the H122D X4 Jet but has one BIG upgrade, brushless motors. The H123D Jet is an all-in-one ready to fly package so you can get it up in the air without having to mess with binding or Betaflight.

Spoiler Alert, My Quad Was a Dud

On paper, this thing is a winner. It is what I wanted the Hubsan H122D to be. However, the model I received has something seriously wrong with it. It flies great for about a minute then it flips over and crashes. I’ve tried it in multiple modes and recalibrated it a few times. Still, it is unreliable and unflyable. Hubsan has issues with quality control, plain and simple. Just because I got a bad model doesn’t mean they are all bad. Personally, I wouldn’t trust it. I’d recommend the DYS Shark Mako. It is a polished ready to fly brushless micro.

It really is an excellent package. Sadly I got a dud.

What is the H123D X4 Jet?

The H123D X4 Jet is built on a lightweight carbon fiber frame. With the 980 mAH 2S battery it will weigh 145 grams. The camera will record on board the drone via an SD card and will also transmit in real time via a 5.8ghz signal. That means you can view it on the built-in screen or opt for a traditional pair of FPV goggles.

This Hubsan controller is a beast.

The camera itself is a 720 camera and will record at 30 fps. The pictures are pretty solid but expect a bit of jello from your recordings. The Jet has a range of up to 150 meters.

The H122 is the brushed version of the H123.

We were fans of the original H122D and thought that brushless motors would have been an excellent upgrade. Now we have it. Unfortunately, Hubsan has a few kinks to work out. Quadcopter 101 really liked his model. See his video below.
