The SkyStars X95 Edge is a powerful brushless micro FPV quad. Spoiler alert this thing is a blast to fly. If you are looking for a pocket rocket then the X95 Edge should be on your shortlist.
SkyStars X95 Edge
This little quad is a scaled down version of a full-size racer. It uses an F4 flight controller and the PIDs are dialed in right out of the box. It has a switchable VTX from 25/100/150mw and changes with a hold of the button. The carbon fiber frame held up to a few tree branches and bounces off the ground, but isn’t likely to withstand a heavy impact at full speed.
The 1104 7500KV motors feel spot on and are punchy enough to fly freestyle. We received two 7.4V 500 mAh 30C batteries and were glad as we drained the first one pretty quickly. It lasted around 4 minutes.
We opted for the Flysky version as it was a few dollars cheaper and it bound to our Jumper T8SG Plus pretty easily. I had to adjust the subtrim just a little and the Yaw and Roll needed to be reversed. Since we’ve played this game before it wasn’t difficult, but a beginner will have to have someone walk them through the process. It still is maddening that you have to go through all of these steps to fly.
X95 Edge Camera and VTX
The camera on the X95 Edge is decent. It was a little dark, but was easy enough to adjust with our DJI Goggles RE. The field of view is in my sweet spot at 115 degrees and the 800 TVL image was certainly crisp enough. The switchable VTX is nice but doesn’t have an LCD to display which channel you are on, only LED lights.
Should You Get a SkyStars X95 Edge?
Overall this little quad is a blast to fly. It is going to be my new acro practice machine. If you are looking for a fun brushless FPV quad then you need to look into the Skystars X95 Edge.
