Mavic Air Clone

GoolRC X12

The GoolRC X12 is no doubt a clone of the impressive DJI Mavic Air. It looks just like the quadcopter from DJI. It has some good features and is a nice little drone, but do not expect to get DJI-like performance from this copycat. The GoolRC X12 is a good drone for under $60 but is not in the same league as the Mavic Air. Right now you can get $15 off if you order from TomTop with the code: HY15X

Probably the best feature of the GoolRC X12 is that it does, in fact, look just like the DJI Mavic Air. The resemblance is stunning. DJI must not be worried about the X12 eating into their sales, I don’t think a serious buyer would confuse the two. In both the flying state and folded state the X12 appears very similar to the DJI Mavic Air. If you want to know more about the real DJI Mavic Air, click HERE.

X12 Camera

The X12 camera is a solid one. You will be able to capture HD videos and 2.0 MP still photos. The X12 claims to have a wide field of view and you can adjust the angle of the camera. It does not have a gimbal or image stabilization so you will have to fly slow and steady to get good footage.

GoolRC X12 Features

Take a look at the X12 in blue.

You will get altitude hold stability with the X12 as well as headless mode and a return button. Avoid using the return button as typically non-GPS drones like the X12 do not always return where you want them to. You will be able to view live video streamed via WiFi to a free smartphone app.

The range of 100 meters is about what you would expect but the 12 minute flight time is definitely above average. Overall this is a good drone and a solid starter, especially if you can get it for less than $50. You’ll have color choices of black, blue and red. Just don’t expect it to be a real Mavic Air.
