The Syma X23W is a small and fun quadcopter for a beginner. Like a lot of other Syma drones we have tested this one is super durable. We crashed the heck out of this little guy. Sometimes on accident, sometimes not. If you are looking for something fun and inexpensive the X23 is a good option.
The Syma X23 has some nice features in addition to its durability. The drone is fairly stable and uses altitude hold to help with stability. It does have a camera that you can view via WiFi and an app but the quality isn’t the best. It will be ok outdoors and in good light, but this lightweight drone is best suited for indoor flight. I wouldn’t recommend taking it outside on windy days.
Syma X23 Specs
The Syma X23 has a modest range of 70 meters. You can expect a flight time of about 5 minutes. Syma claims 7 minutes of flight time but that would be under ideal conditions of likely boring flight. If you want a better drone for under $100 we would recommend taking a look at the Ryze Tello.
Our Recommendation
Syma makes some quality drones but we prefer their simple models. The X5 line up is full of awesome quads. If you want basic fun go with the X5C or X5SW. If you want some bells and whistles then we’d recommend the X5UW. If you want something larger the X8 lineup is full of big drones that can carry a good action camera like a GoPro.

Our Favorite Drone Under $100
Instead of picking up a Syma Z3 we would recommend looking into the Ryze Tello. The Ryze Tello is superior on almost every level. It has a better camera, intuitive flight modes and is the most stable non-GPS drone you can buy. The Tello is hands down the best drone you can buy for less than $100.
